Pelvic Pain

We evaluate and treat a wide range of pelvic and abdominal pain conditions, including low back pain, hip pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, pubic bone pain, tailbone pain, and genital pain. Additionally, we provide supportive care for patients diagnosed with conditions such as endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, and uterine fibroids. We understand how challenging it can be to navigate acute and chronic pain and will help work with you and your healthcare team to identify the root cause of your symptoms and implement a full body approach to address what is happening.

Sexual Pain and Dysfunction

Experiencing pain or dysfunction with sexual activity can have a significant impact on your quality of life and intimate relationships. This can manifest in many ways, such as pain with arousal/orgasm/intercourse, difficulty or inability to achieve orgasm, persistent genital arousal disorder, or low libido. The driving factors behind sexual dysfunction are often complex and multifactorial. We'll work together to determine what is contributing to your concerns and help you regain fulfillment and intimacy in your sex life.

Bladder Dysfunction

Urinary dysfunction is a broad term that may include urinary incontinence, frequency or urgency, painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis, and difficulty with urination. Urinary problems are extremely common and can impact people of all ages and genders. Despite common beliefs, bladder problems related to pregnancy, childbirth, or aging are not normal and can be effectively treated with physical therapy.

Bowel Dysfunction

Pelvic floor therapists possess a deep understanding of the complex musculature and mechanics of the pelvic floor, which plays a crucial role in bowel movements and overall digestive health. Pelvic floor dysfunction can often lead to bowel concerns such as constipation, difficulty emptying, abdominal bloating, and fecal incontinence.

Pregnancy and Postpartum

Physical therapists are a vital component of your birth team and help support individuals through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Whether this is your first or fourth pregnancy, we can work together to ensure you feel strong and confident throughout your pregnancy. We'll develop a comprehensive birth plan that addresses your preferences and needs, and help get you back on track to heal postpartum. We can address a range of birth-related concerns such as diastasis recti, Caesarian recovery, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary or bowel issues, and resuming intimacy postpartum. Even if you're not experiencing any specific problems, we can assess your baseline pelvic floor strength and function and help you maintain or improve it through the birth process.

Pelvic floor physical therapists also act as a vital care team member while trying to conceive. During the often stressful and emotionally-charged journey of fertility treatment and conception, pelvic floor physical therapists provide valuable guidance and support. In addition to addressing musculoskeletal concerns that could be impacting fertility, we also provide a safe, judgement-free space for patients to express their fears, frustrations, and hopes as they navigate the ups and downs of fertility treatment. By working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of fertility specialists, we help patients build a comprehensive support network during this challenging process.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Patients with pelvic organ prolapse often experience symptoms like pelvic heaviness, bowel/bladder issues, a visible vaginal bulge, or low back pain. These symptoms may begin after childbirth or surgery, or may emerge gradually over time. For many people, these problems worsen at the end of the day or with increased physical activity. We develop customized treatment plans for those dealing with prolapse conditions such as cystocele, rectocele, and uterine or vaginal vault prolapse. Dr. Anna is certified to fit patients for pessaries, which are removable silicone devices inserted into the vagina to provide support the pelvic organs. We also provide pre- and post-operative support for patients undergoing corrective prolapse surgery to help minimize the need for revision surgeries.

Surgical Care

Undergoing surgery is a major decision, and we are committed to supporting our patients every step of the way. Pelvic floor therapy can help optimize muscle function before surgical procedures, improve post-operative recovery, and reduce the risk of persistent symptoms following the operation. Whether you need a tummy tuck, hysterectomy, laparoscopy, or any other surgical treatment, we provide top-tier care to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Gender-Affirming Care

We are honored to provide personalized, compassionate care for individuals across the spectrum of gender identity and sexual orientation. We offer specialized support for those undergoing gender-affirming procedures, such as top surgery, vaginoplasty, vulvoplasty, phalloplasty, and hysterectomy/oophorectomy. These surgical interventions often involve multiple incisions, leading to reduced mobility, scar tissue formation, and impacts on sexual function. We also assist those experiencing musculoskeletal challenges related to binding, tucking, or packing. Our goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where you can feel comfortable being your most authentic self and developing a nurturing relationship with your body.

Sex Counseling

Sexuality counseling is an individualized service designed to help you gently unpack sexual health challenges and understand the deeply interconnected physical, emotional, and relational factors behind them. Because intimacy is an integral part of your overall well-being, our approach focuses on honoring your unique story and supporting your body's natural healing process. Integrating sexuality counseling with pelvic floor physical therapy allows us to bridge the gap between physical rehab and intimate wellness, offering a truly whole-person approach to your healing.

This process begins with a comprehensive sexual health history, followed by education, collaborative problem-solving, and personalized home strategies or exercises tailored to your body and relationships.

Please note that sexuality counseling is distinct from sex therapy. Psychological and emotional complexities require specialized psychological care, and deep-seated emotional drivers are best addressed by a licensed mental health provider. Sexuality counseling serves as a body-centered complement to that work, focusing primarily on education, physical awareness, and practical, everyday solutions.
