We are happy to coordinate care via a direct referral from your physician or another member of your healthcare team. Your provider's office can fax the referral to us directly, or you can submit your referral once your initial appointment is set up.
If you do not have a referral, you can still receive care! Physical therapists have direct access in the state of Tennessee. This means that patients can seek physical therapy treatment without a physician referral. However, in order to continue care past the 90 day mark, we are required to provide communication with a physician regarding your ongoing care.
Ume Wellness is considered an out-of-network provider with all insurance providers and we do not communicate directly with insurance companies. Patients are required to pay the full fee at the time of service and we accept all forms of payment, including FSA/HSA. Our goal is always to meet you exactly where you are, and we are happy to work with you to develop a plan and frequency of appointments that fits your needs.
Depending on your specific insurance policy and out-of-network benefits, some patients may be able to pay up front and receive partial reimbursement after submitting a claim. At the end of each session we will provide you with a detailed superbill containing all the necessary information for your insurance to review. It is the patient's responsibility to understand their individual policy and to seek and obtain reimbursement.
The reason why we have opted for this model of care is because our intention is to provide the highest quality of one-on-one care for everyone that we work with. Unfortunately, our current medical care system is extremely flawed - insurance companies are allowed to dictate medical necessity and who is and is not entitled to quality treatment. We firmly believe that everyone has a right to access healthcare providers who understand, acknowledge, and advocate for them. We unequivocally stand with marginalized communities (Black, indigenous, people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ folks) who have and still are being discriminated against by our managed care system and we are happy to discuss sliding scale options for those who are financially unable to self-pay our full fees.
Wear whatever brings you joy! We encourage patients to opt for clothing that is comfortable, easy to exercise in, and stretchy in the event that we choose to include movement in our session.
All in-person appointments are 60 minutes long. Virtual sessions are offered for either 30 or 60 minutes depending on what we need to cover during that visit.
We kindly ask that all intake paperwork be completed and submitted at least one day before your appointment time. This allows our therapists to perform a thorough chart audit of your past medical history and concerns so that we can prepare before you arrive for your visit. Additionally, the full fee is due at time of service. We accept all forms of payment including HSA/FSA.
It is a privilege to be able to work with you and as such we will always respect your time. We humbly ask that you extend the same respect for our practitioners.
A 50% fee of service will be charged for any appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before your start time. The full fee of service will be charged for no-shows or any appointments cancelled within 3 hours of your start time.
We do this because each session is reserved for and dedicated solely to you. Other patients in need are prevented from accessing those appointment times when there is not enough notice to fill a late cancelled spot.

Sex counseling session (online only): $150
